You Capture My Heart!

You’ve captured my heart

With one look of your face…

The Love of God captures me every day!  I see it in the eyes of children, in the playfulness of a pet, in the love and dedication of a husband who daily lays down his life for his family!

Sometimes all it takes is just a tender smile or embrace, or a thoughtful remembrance and my heart is captured!

You’ve captured my heart

With one word that you speak to me!
Every good and perfect gift comes from above! The Creator, who made the Heavens displays His majestic wonders in a cloudy day or starry night and in the smallest things He designed for us to enjoy and discover.

All that we find amazing is in Him! We notice His beauty in the mountains, rocks and soil. If you look closely you might notice that three types of berries resemble DNA. It’s the intricate things that children notice about the ordinary that inspire us. With just one word that you speak, you capture my heart, child, when you exercise patience, or learn a new skill!  When you chase after God…You capture my heart!

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10

And I’ll Run After You!

Why does God give us these good and perfect gifts? Why does He want to talk to us and show us His ways? It is because He is in love with us! He chased after us by laying down His life for us. He gave everything for us.  While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us because He has an intimate desire for us to know Him and be with Him forever! (Romans 5:8)

He tells us about Himself through His word and the things He created so that we might know Him!

He uses His creation to describe His love…

“The heavens declare the glory of God and the sky proclaims the works of His hands. Day after day they pour forth speech. Night after night, they communicate knowledge.  There is no speech, nor are there words; Their voice is not heard. Their message has gone out through all the earth, And their utterances to the end of the world. In them He has placed a tent for the sun, Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber; It rejoices as a strong man to run his course.…” Psalm 19:1-6

What should our response be to Him?

And I’ll run after You!

With all my heart and soul!

“I want to know YOU God!  I want to chase after you … to find our why you chased me! Why am I here? What do you ask of me.  I have it built into my DNA to long for you!”

Like the famous Song of Songs we say:

“Draw me after you and let us run together! The king has brought me into his chambers.” “We will rejoice in you and be glad; We will extol your love more than wine. Rightly do they love you.” Song of Solomon 1:4

And I’ll run after You

With all my mind and strength

Romans 11:33 “Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out!” “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.” Ecclesiastes 3:11me and honey

I’m holding you close

And I won’t let you go…

You’re holding me close

and You won’t let me go!

Yes, every good and perfect gift is from above.  The gift of family, marriage, intimacy, solace, peace..  The gift of Love, fragrance, wholeness, goodness, beauty, God’s amazing sunsets! His compassion and HOLINESS…the list could go on forever! It is infinite.  There will never be an end to the boundless mercies of our Loving Savior.  Because not only does he have love to give. He IS Love! (1 John 4:8) The things that we see are temporal, and subject to change, but He never changes. The safe place that we need is in Jesus. He intended for us to enjoy the earthly gifts that Has given.  He also commands us in His word not to worship or love His creation more than we love our Creator.   Instead, these wonders that we see should direct us back to Him in worship. (Deuteronomy 4:19, Psalm 8:3)

Even the mystery of love between a husband and wife is the mystery Jesus and His church! (Ephesians 5:25-32)  Those closest to us, have become His extension of grace in this life.  We are recipients of His grace together.

The Apostle, Paul, speaks in Ephesians: “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless. So husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself; for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ also does the church, because we are members of His body. FOR THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND SHALL BE JOINED TO HIS WIFE, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH. This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church.”

He has wooed us to fall in love with Him! I’m captured at the sheer awe that He would leave His home in heaven and come to earth to give His life and pour out His blood to wash us pure from sin and make us new so that we could be His Bride! What kind of God does this? One who has placed in our very DNA the draw to come back to Him!

Are you ready to receive this mystery into your heart? Are you ready to say to the King of Kings, “You’ve captured my heart!” ?
