Many years ago, a dear friend of ours gifted us with a stay at a nice hotel and a paid reservation for a marriage retreat seminar. (Thank you, Bryan!) Steven Curtis Chapman provided the entertainment for the conference while he was on his “All About Love” tour. At the end of the conference, we bought his cd. We played it so much we wore out the disc within a couple of years. We bought some for friends, and bought one again for ourselves.
Certain CDs and songs have stayed with us throughout our marriage and have helped us get through some tough times. Not without faith and the word of God, of course. But there is something extra-special about the music that becomes a part of our lives and reminds us of the good experiences we’ve had. They also bring to remembrance His faithfulness in our times of need through the storms of life. These songs call us upward and remind us of who we are and where we want to be.
Back then I wasn’t much of a techie girl and I’m still not. The title song “All About Love” references all of the technology that was available then and, now twelve years later, I can relate even more. I’ve finally gave in and got twitter account, (I rebelled against having one for years!) Now, I have at my fingertips podcasts, blogs, and more social media apps than ever, so this song bears repeating!
Tomorrow morning, when the techno alarm jingles us out of sleep, before checking the smartphone for all of the notifications, tweets, likes and mail in the inbox, let’s take time to meditate on the real reason we are here and let our hearts be sensitive to the reality that…It’s all about Love! And as we go throughout our day let’s mediate the old-fashioned way on 1 John 4:8 “He who does not love does not know God for God is Love!”
The whole cd is full of beautiful love songs! Check out the “All About Love” CD for yourself here:
